“Full Steam Ahead: How Port Everglades Navigates through Changes”

Join Port Everglades Deputy Port Director Glenn Wiltshire for an engaging look at how one of the top seaports in North America maintains its competitive edge in a changing business environment and see the plans for the new extension as well as welcoming a new cruise line to Fort Lauderdale – Disney Cruise Line offering at least two departures per week from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale starting November 20, 2023 aboard the luxurious Disney Dream and Disney Magic cruise ships.

Hear from Anthony Cordo, the Executive Vice President at Visit Lauderdale, Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau and “Visit Fort Lauderdale” to discuss the economic impact of the expansion and marketing of the extensive, $1.3 billion renovation of our Convention Center with an 801-room, headquarter hotel, the Omni Resort also under construction adjacent to the Convention Center with the economic impact to our community.

 

Glenn A. Wiltshire, a 30-year U.S. Coast Guard veteran, is the Deputy Port Director for the Broward County Port Everglades Department, which generated more than $179million in revenue in FY2022 and is ranked among the nation’s leading container ports and a world leader in the cruise industry.

His responsibilities include managing the seaport’s diverse maritime initiatives, which generate more than $33 billion in economic activity statewide and support 9,584 local, direct jobs, and more than $1.18 billion in state and local taxes.

Anthony “Tony” Cordo is the Executive Vice President at Visit Lauderdale, Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Broward County agency that promotes Broward County on a worldwide stage.

Their promotion “Everyone Under the Sun” sells Broward County to travelers, media, conventions, and sporting events. They promote responsible tourism, how diversity contributes to the resilience of the tourism industry within South Florida and more. Tony oversees the convention, sports and special events, research, administration, and convention center areas of the Visit Lauderdale business. Another significant endeavor is the extensive, $1.3 billion renovation of our Convention Center.
